INTERIOR DESIGNER Marjorie Skouras, who also has an eponymous collection of luxury home accents, lighting and furniture, has signed a licensing agreement with Currey & Company. The collection, which will debut at the October 2011 High Point Furniture Market, will include mirrors, lighting, furniture and accessories.
Inspired by jewelry designs, the debut collection will comprise around 50 designs with overall classical references. The licensed line will also riff on her original high-end collection, which spotlights exquisitely detailed designs fashioned from semi-precious stones such as turquoise, coral, malachite and rock crystal. Known for her creative and fearless use of color, Skouras also plans to introduce hot colors into the line, like emerald green and coral.
"When I walked in to the Currey showroom last year, I got chills," said Skouras, who added that she knew it was the right fit immediately. "There was no one else I would work with." "We fell in love," concurred Cecil Adams, creative director.
"We had a lot of synergy, and her aesthetic married well with ours. We're thrilled with what we have seen so far because of the mix of materials and the point of view."
The Marjorie Skouras Collection will fall in line with current Currey pricing, leaning toward the higher-end price points based on scale and materials.
